BYRON MERRILL LIBRARY
10 Buffalo Road
Rumney, NH 03266
Phone: 786-9520
Our beautiful library was given to the Town of Rumney in 1904 by Adelaide Merrill in memory of her father, Byron G Merrill.
Byron G Merrill was born in Rumney in 1834 and was educated in our local schools. When the Boston, Concord, Montreal rail line was surveyed, Merrill acted as rod man under the guidance of Josiah Quincy. In 1875, Merrill became superintendent of the mechanical department of the Gelena Oil Company in Franklin, Pennsylvania. He became one of the best qualified experts on lubricating oils and their proper use. He traveled and sold large quantities of oil. Merrill spent his last thirty years in Concord, NH, and was involved in municipal affairs.
We continue to use and enjoy her wonderful gift. The Byron G. Merrill Library is open on Wednesdays from 2-8, Thursdays from 10-12 and 2-5 and Saturdays from 10-12. You can reach us at 786-9520 or rumneylibrary@roadrunner.com.
All residents of Rumney are encouraged to use the services of the library — books, videos, dvds, audio books, computers, internet access, interlibrary loans, story times, knitting group, and Ladies Book Club.
